PES Performance’s Success Recognised at Regional IOD Awards

The continued success of PES Performance has been recognised and commended by the Institute of Directors at its recent Awards event for IoD Yorkshire and North East.

At the awards ceremony in York, PES Performance’s Managing Director Mike Maddock was acknowledged for his leadership with a Highly Commended award in the SME Director of the Year category.

Mike set up PES Performance in 2011, with business partner Dan Fleetcroft, as a high-performance engineering business, working across multiple sectors, and delivering engineering solutions for clients. They soon realised that there was a real opportunity, in high-value niche markets, for a team of highly skilled engineers and business solution specialists; an offering which remains fairly unique today.

With a 40% growth in the last financial year, the business is expected to continue growing exponentially, both from contract work for clients and through joint venture businesses that PES have set up with key partners.

After receiving the commendation Mike said; “I am really pleased to have won highly commended for ‘Director of the Year SME’ out of a shortlist of 13 nominees.

“I have a huge amount of respect for James Cain (Harrogate Spring) who won the award, and the other nominees, who will know and understand the challenges and opportunities running an SME brings.

“I would like to say a big thanks to my business partner and friend, Dan Fleetcroft, who drives the technical focus and strategy. Also, thanks to a great team of people at PES Performance, who are all passionate about the business.”

Commenting on the Awards, Jon Geldart, chair of IoD Yorkshire and North East, said: “Exceptional businesses are only so because of the exceptional people who create, drive and sustain them. The Director of the Year Awards celebrates these leaders, often unsung and unrecognised.

“At a time when our country remains fractured by dysfunctional politics and politicians, it is heartening that British business displays leadership where politics does not.”
