PES Performance Ltd have congratulated Porsche Carrera Cup GB front-runner Paul Rees on the news that he will contest the high-profile Porsche Mobile 1 Supercup Double-Header, supporting the US Grand Prix at Austin, Texas in November.

Rees, sponsored by the engineering design solutions company, currently lies third in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB standings after a first win at Rockingham earlier in September, and has become a major factor in the Championship pushing multiple champion Michael Meadows all the way to a close second at Silverstone recently.

Rees joined the championship at the start of the season with In2Racing and after an impressive debut year has been hailed ‘a revelation and a highlight ‘ by former BTCC champion Tim Harvey.

Dan Fleetcroft with Porsche Carrera Cup carDan Fleetcroft, engineering design director at PES Performance, said; “It’s great to see how Paul has adapted to driving the Porsche Carrera 991. With its engine and weight hung out at the back of the car they are particularly tough to get used to and to drive consistently quickly.

“Paul is really clicking with the car now and the Austin races will provide a great opportunity for him to test his skills against the world’s top Carrera SuperCup drivers.”

Three weeks after the Carrera Cup concludes at Brands Hatch, Rees will fly to the US to contest the concluding two races in the Porsche Supercup with the well respected MOMO Megatron team.

“I had the call up from the team following Rockingham,” said Rees. “My Carrera Cup win at Rockingham was very timely and it is going to be an a fantastic experience at a great circuit. It is the first time the Supercup has been to Austin, as was the case at Le Mans so it will be more of a level playing field, which is good for me. A big thank you to Andreas and the Team for the opportunity and I hope to repay the faith with a strong showing”.

Rees hopes that the Supercup will be his next career step. “It is the next logical step within the Porsche family, If I do Carrera Cup GB again in 2015 I would have a good shot at winning it. But I would look to do some Supercup races as well. We were with most of Supercup drivers in the Le Mans race this year and I showed well against them achieving fastest lap & driver of the weekend”.

In the meantime, Rees is looking to finish strongly in the last UK Championship round at Brands Hatch on the Grand Prix circuit this weekend, “I like to focus on one thing at a time and for now my priority is to have a strong finish at Brands Hatch”.
