Our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Policy
Introduction:
As a high-performance engineering design and consultancy business, Performance Engineered Solutions (PES) Limited is focused on building an internationally recognised brand, delivering solutions that help clients grow in competitive and technically challenging environments.
PES has formalised its longstanding commitment to responsible business practices through an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policy.
This policy is based on four strategic principles: integrating ESG into all business decisions, providing customer-focused ESG solutions, driving innovation to address sustainability challenges, and fostering a strong culture that engages employees in ESG objectives.
PES is committed to ethical business practices, legal compliance, and continuously improving its working methods for better safety, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
Environmental Stewardship:
PES aims to minimise its environmental impact through sustainable practices, compliance with environmental legislation, and efficient resource use. This includes reducing its carbon footprint, minimising waste and energy consumption, and utilising recycling facilities. Located at the Advanced Manufacturing Park, PES benefits from environmentally friendly infrastructure. The company prioritises incorporating sustainable technology and is working towards a net-sero design standard.
Social Responsibility:
PES values its employees, providing a supportive and inclusive work environment with opportunities for professional development, training, and work-life balance.
The company offers clear career progression plans, regular training on safety and technical expertise, and environmental awareness training. PES promotes equal opportunities and conducts annual appraisals.
The company supports local education, particularly in advanced manufacturing, with key staff holding influential positions at Sheffield UTC and the University of Sheffield. PES also supports local events and charities.
Health and Safety:
PES prioritises the health, safety, and welfare of its employees and others affected by its activities. The company conducts risk assessments, implements control measures, maintains a safe working environment, provides training and supervision, and promotes a positive safety culture. PES is committed to preventing injury and ill health, continually improving its safety management, and ensuring the safe handling of materials and equipment. The company also assesses contractor competence and has emergency preparedness plans. The Managing Director is responsible for driving and monitoring health and safety performance, reporting to the Board.
Wider Social Responsibility:
PES supports initiatives benefiting the environment, human welfare, and education. They engage with suppliers, customers, and employees on safety, health, and wellbeing, and are committed to protecting human rights and welfare within their own operations and throughout their supply chain.
Governance, Ethics & Compliance:
PES adheres to high standards of corporate governance, complying with legal requirements and conducting business ethically and responsibly. They recognise responsible practices as crucial for economic sustainability and long-term relationships. Maintaining client trust through integrity and data security is paramount, supported by policies on anti-bribery and corruption, modern slavery and human trafficking, cyber security, and confidential waste disposal. Risk management is regularly reviewed by the board using SWOT and PESTLE analysis as part of their ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
ESG Policy Implementation:
The Board of Directors directly oversees PES’s ESG programme. ESG goals, informed by stakeholder engagement, are approved by senior management and the board and implemented by the team. Active participation at all levels is crucial for ensuring team ownership of ESG. Progress against ESG goals is regularly monitored and is a standing item on the monthly Board Meeting agenda.
